History of the Mercedes-Benz brand

The long history of the brand dates back to the end of the 19th century, to 1886, when Karl Benz patented his motor vehicle with 3 wheels, chassis and seats - the world's first car. Other key figures in the brand's history include Daimler Motoren Gesellschaft founder Gottlieb Daimler and engineer Wilhelm Maybach, creator of the high-speed petrol engine.

The name Mercedes is in the name of the brand thanks to the car racer Emil Jellinek, who named his race car after his then 11-year-old daughter. Thanks to the successful results, he established cooperation with Daimler Motoren Gesellschaft, and since then all cars manufactured by them have been called Mercedes.
