They will be the first to drive in Pepsi with Tesla trucks

Elon Musk announced in early October that Tesla is starting production of the Tesla Semi, an electric tractor with a range of 800 km. Pepsi will be the first to receive these electric tractors on December 1.

The Tesla Semi is nothing new, it has been talked about since 2017. At that time, Tesla promised it for 2019. However, production was delayed, the whole world expected the Semi to arrive in 2023. But in August, Musk surprisingly announced its arrival at the end this year.

Tractors with a range of 805 km on a single charge

Tesla claims the tractor has a range of 500 miles (805 km) on a single charge. It is made in Nevada, where they manage to make five pieces a week. In order to increase production, production is still planned in Texas.

The Pepsi company has ordered exactly 100 electric tractors, which will enrich its company fleet. A portion of that amount is to be used to convert the Frito-Lay Modesto plant in California to a zero-emissions facility. First tractors, which Pepsi will receive on December 1st, will probably go there. Last year, Tesla already installed a Megacharger at the Modesto plant.

A reliable tractor? The road will still be long

Due to current energy prices, many people are considering whether to use electricity at all tractors it pays off. However, the Tesla Semi comes with a very interesting range and an interesting price tag in the US as well. The expected price is 180 dollars, but through the American subsidy program, those interested in it from the US can get a tax break of up to 000 dollars.

However, just a few days after Musk announced the start of production of the Tesla Semi, a video appeared on the Internet showing a malfunction. In Fremont, California, a short distance from Tesla's factory, the video showed a tow truck, police and a Tesla service vehicle. Initially, the production of the new model will probably be plagued by technical problems.

At least until Tesla catches most of the technical errors, we advise you to stay with classic cars with traditional types of fuel. Take a look at for example our range of tractors.
