The new generation MAN TG saves up to 8,2% of fuel

It has been a year since MAN introduced the new generation of TG series trucks. To this day, it is seen as a clear step forward. The biggest priority in the development of this new series was to reduce fuel consumption. It turned out to be excellent, the new generation MAN TG saves up to 8,2% of fuel consumption.

The MAN TG is therefore again slightly more efficient than the previous series. This is not only the manufacturer's claim, the lower fuel consumption was also confirmed by the TÜV Süd test.

A fair test with a route corresponding to the Europeané distancesé transport

The TÜV Süd test consisted of a 684 km long route. The new MAN TGX 18.470 Euro 6d and the older MAN TGX 18.460 Euro 6c competed on it. The track measured only 342 km, but was run twice to make the test more objective. Drivers and semi-trailers changed between the two rides. The route was chosen so that its profile corresponded to the nature of European long-distance transport roads.

The test confirmed what the manufacturer stated. The new MAN TGX actually consumed an average of 8,2% less fuel than the older MAN TGX.

The savings were achieved thanks to the newédesign and driveé system

What is improved in the new generation? The basis is an exceptionally economical engine with the Euro 6d emission specification, an optimized hypoid axle and a long permanent transmission of 2,31. The MAN EfficientCruise cruise control also underwent a change, which received a number of new functions. These include Dynamic Sailing, which saves fuel by alternating acceleration with idling.

The design has also been improved and is now more aerodynamic. Slim exterior mirrors provide a smaller front surface, aerodynamic elements on the front panel improve airflow to the engine and radiator.

The vehicles are equipped with the MAN Essentials service package, which evaluates driving data. The optional MAN Perform analyzes efficiency and creates the basis for MAN CoDriver - driver coaching.
